Privacy Policy

Last updated June 2026

Your privacy and the security of your information matter to us. This policy explains what we collect, why, how we protect it, and the choices you have.

This website, Change Your Name, is operated from Brisbane, Australia ("we", "us", "our"). We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What information we collect

To prepare your name-change documents we collect the personal information you provide, which may include your previous and new name, date of birth, address, contact details, the organisations you wish to notify, and any account or membership numbers you choose to give us.

There's a minimum amount of information we need to get started. Beyond that, how much you share is your choice — if you prefer to leave certain details out, you can add them to your prepared documents yourself before submitting them.

Why we collect it

We collect your information for one purpose: to provide the service you've asked for — preparing the letters, forms and instructions needed to change your name with the organisations you select, and where your package includes it, submitting them on your behalf.

How we use your information

We use your information to prepare your documents, to communicate with you about your order, to process your payment, and where applicable to notify the organisations you've chosen. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for unrelated marketing without your consent.

Sharing and disclosure

We disclose your information only as needed to deliver the service:

We don't disclose your information to anyone else without your consent.

Payment security

Our site is secured by SSL. All online credit card transactions are processed through the eWAY payment gateway, which provides a secure means of collecting payments and is used by thousands of Australian merchants. Your full card details are handled by eWAY's secure systems and are not stored by us.

How long we keep your information

We don't keep your personal order data any longer than we need to. We delete your personal information after three months, retaining only the minimal customer record we're legally required to keep for taxation purposes.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you and request that we correct it if it's inaccurate. Contact us using the details below and we'll respond within a reasonable time.

Complaints

If you believe your information has been mishandled, please contact us first so we can try to put things right. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
